Grove

An L-system fractal plant grower
by jake

Grow fractal plants with an L-system, the string-rewriting grammar botanists use to describe how real plants branch. Grove expands the rule a few generations and sends a turtle off to draw the result, so you watch each plant grow stroke by stroke from a bare stem.

Pick a species (tree, fern, bush, seaweed, or a flower that blossoms), choose a season palette from spring green through autumn gold to cherry blossom pink, and set the growth depth, branch angle and wildness to reshape the whole plant.

Turn on the breeze for a sway that runs down the branches properly, and tap the ground to plant more until you have a grove.
